See Butcher Babies' Carla Harvey Join Motive Black in Explosive "Lift Me Up" Video

Korn's Ray Luzier and P.O.D.'s Marcos Curiel play on upcoming record

Motive Black are poised for big things. The L.A. band is helmed by the powerful frontwoman Elana Justin, whose robust voice is reminiscent of artists like Halestorm's Lzzy Hale and the Pretty Reckless' Taylor Momsen — but with her own heavy twist. The band's latest single from their upcoming album is a hair-whipping hard-rock banger called "Lift Me Up," and it features none other than Butcher Babies singer Carla Harvey on the mic. Today (April 22nd), we're stoked to be premiering its kick-ass music video, which sees Justin and Harvey beating the shit out of masked male bandits with slick ninja moves.

The song's Eastern-influenced guitar lick has a bit of a Rob Zombie feel, but the whole thing knocks like a classic grunge heater. Watch and listen above via YouTube. Notably, the band's upcoming album also features performances by Korn drummer Ray Luzier and P.O.D.'s Marcos Curiel. Get ready for that.

"The song is about realizing that you can't find validation through other people," Justin says of "Lift Me Up." "It's easy to fall into the trap of avoidance, and trying to distract yourself from the growth you require by looking for love in all the wrong places. Facing inward can be truly difficult, but through that journey you find empowerment.

"Working together really brought the song up to a new level," she added of Harvey's involvement. "I think it's really important for people to see women working together to create music and art.  We keep seeing It more and more and it's so exciting. It's essential for women in this industry to stick together and support each other.  There is so much more female visibility in this kind of music than there was even just a few years ago."
